Geotechnical Investigation
In construction projects, designs of foundations and excavations require accurate analyses of soils and soil-structure interactions. Deformations in soils are affected by the flow of pore fluid in the soil and the implications of this phenomenon need to be taken into account for design purposes. Geo Solutions provides realistic simulation solutions that allow accurate predictions of soil deformations and soil-structure interactions through an adequate program of field sampling, laboratory testing and engineering analysis and evaluation. We provide geotechnical recommendations for a wide range of projects, from site reconnaissance and feasibility evaluation through project completion.
Geological Survey
We undertake geological survey to determine site geology with the main focus on bedrock units, geological structures and both surface and groundwater. This includes physical characteristics and distribution description of bedrock units and their relationship to other geological units. Where necessary, geological structures are evaluated for their favorable and adverse impact on an intended development.
Geological Desktop Study
Desktop studies are low cost, high value products that can identify potential hazards in the early stages of field development. They may also aid the costing, site selection optimization and design processes. Geo Solutions undertakes detailed geological desktop studies in the exploration phase of a field development, preferably prior to exploration drilling, to provide a preliminary assessment of both surface and subsurface conditions. If potential geohazards have been identified, then an initial risk register may be compiled, containing the identified hazards and the possible risk they pose to field development.
Geohazard Assessment
Geohazards such as rock falls and landslides can play a significant factor in the overall risks associated with construction projects. The key to addressing these risks is early identification of the geohazards and consideration of their possible impacts on the field development. The geohazard impact zones defined in this assessment process can either be avoided or, where this is not possible, inform the engineering design process to consider mitigating measures that reduce the impact to an acceptable level.
